NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Kalea Barnett and Josiah Scott both finished in top 4 in the shotput and top 6 for the weight throw while Ndebele Bumnene, Dylon Dishman and Tyler Williams placed top two in spring events for Cumberland track and Field Sunday at the Ed Temple Classic in Nashville, Tenn.
Scott placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 12.76 meters in the team's first meet of the year. The Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native tossed the shot put 13.27 meters for fourth place among six participants. Barnett finished sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.49 meters among 12 competitors and was fourth in the shot put, posting a mark of 12.39 meters.
Johanna Bangala was able to finish third in the Women’s 400 meter dash with a time of 56.75, while Maria Bangala followed behind her finishing fifth with a time of 59.08. Williams and Desmond Maclin placed first and third for Cumberland in the 55 meter dash with times of 6.35 and 6.50.
Dishman was able to record a jump of 1.77 meters that allowed him to place second in the Men’s high jump, while Ronald Ndlovu was able to place second out of 12 participants in the men’s long jump with a distance of 7.21 meters. Bumnene Ndebele was able to finish out strong for Cumberland as he also placed second in the men’s triple jump with a distance of 14.94 meters.
The Phoenix will be competing this weekend at the ETSU Invitational on Friday, January 10th and Saturday, January 11th in Johnson City, Tenn.
